Petuch \u0026amp; Dennis Sargent (2011)\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eScaphella elizabethae\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e is characterized by its \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethin, inflated, elongated fusiform shell\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eelevated suprapyramidal spire\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewell-developed, slightly angled shoulder\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewide aperture\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. The early postnuclear whorls bear faint longitudinal ribs that gradually fade on later whorls, while the shell exhibits the species’ signature pattern of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewidely spaced rows of rich brown square-to-rectangular spots\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e set against a creamy white background.
