A beautiful matched pair of Caribachlamys sentis, a colorful deep-water scallop collected from the Dry Tortugas. Specimens from deeper trap depths often show strong coloration, and this pair displays an especially attractive deep red color typical of the species.
These specimens were personally collected by me while commercial lobster fishing in deep water off the Dry Tortugas.
