Chicoreus riverai – 12.4 mm – Dry Tortugas, Florida

This beautiful juvenile Chicoreus riverai displays outstanding orange coloration with crisp spiral sculpture, well-developed varices, and delicate fronds. Personally collected from 260 feet while commercial lobster fishing off Pulley Ridge in the Dry Tortugas, this specimen belongs to the recently described species named after me by Petuch & Berschauer in 2026. Even at this small size, it exhibits the distinctive characters that make this species highly sought after by collectors.
