Fasciolaria bittneri – Dry Tortugas – 116.9mm

This is a nice specimen of Fasciolaria bittneri, one of the recently described tulip species from the Dry Tortugas region of Florida.

 

This shell displays attractive brown patterning over a cream background along with a warm orange-toned apex and protoconch . Specimens with accurate locality and collection data from the Dry Tortugas are highly desirable to collectors.

 

This specimen was personally collected by me while commercial lobster fishing aboard my vessel F/V AVA PILAR.
