Offered here is an exceptional specimen of the recently described Fasciolaria bittneri, a species endemic to the Dry Tortugas region of Florida. This shell exhibits the defining characteristics outlined in the original description, including the elevated spire, rounded sloping shoulder, bright orange protoconch, and the striking arrangement of orange-red and cream coloration. Fine spiral sculpture and the broad, glossy aperture make this a particularly attractive representative of the species.
Personally collected by me from baited lobster traps in the Dry Tortugas, this specimen represents the unique deep-water molluscan fauna of the Gulf of Mexico. The vivid coloration and large size make it a standout addition to any serious Fasciolariidae or Florida collection.

Condition
A beautiful collector specimen displaying excellent color, a bright orange protoconch, and a glossy aperture with an attractive orange columellar callus. The shell retains excellent overall form and presents very well.
There are a few small encrusting tube worm bases present on the exterior of the shell, as shown in the photographs. The outer lip has a chip, also shown in the photographs, and this has been taken into consideration when pricing the specimen. Despite these minor imperfections, the shell remains an impressive and highly desirable representative of this recently described Dry Tortugas species.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description and accurately represent the specimen you will receive, including the outer lip chip and natural encrustations.
