Fasciolaria riverai – Recently described– Dark Form – Dry Tortugas – 209.6mm

An impressive dark form specimen of Fasciolaria riverai, one of the recently described tulip species from the deep waters of the Dry Tortugas region.

This specimen shows an unusually dark chocolate-brown patterning over a cream base, giving the shell a striking black variant appearance compared to the more typical orange / red forms of the species. The heavy banding and contrast make this a particularly attractive collector specimen.

Fasciolaria riverai was named in my honor following its scientific description by Petuch & Berschauer in 2026 from specimens collected from the Tortuga Terrace deep-water fauna.

This shell was personally collected by me while commercial lobster fishing aboard my vessel F/V AVA PILAR, providing accurate locality and depth data valued by serious collectors.
