Fasciolaria tulipa f. scheepmakeri Kobelt, 1875– 150 mm – Dry Tortugas, Florida

Offered here is a spectacular specimen of the uncommon Fasciolaria tulipa form scheepmakeri, one of the most striking and desirable color forms of the Florida Tulip. This impressive specimen displays the characteristic cream background overlaid with bold black to dark chocolate flame-like markings and bands that distinguish this form from the typical F. tulipa. The shell also exhibits exceptionally heavy sculpture, with pronounced spiral cords and strong growth features that give it remarkable texture and visual appeal.

Personally collected by me from baited lobster traps in the Dry Tortugas, this shell represents one of the beautiful deep-water variants encountered in the Gulf of Mexico. The contrasting pattern, heavily sculptured body whorl, and included operculum make this an outstanding collector specimen.

Condition

A beautiful collector specimen with exceptional contrast and a heavily sculptured exterior. The shell displays bold dark patterning, an attractive elevated spire, a glossy aperture, and excellent overall form. The included operculum accompanies the specimen.
