Spondylus americanus – 82.0 mm – Panama City Beach, FL

Personally collected by Doug Thompson while scuba diving off Panama City Beach, Florida, this attractive Spondylus americanus displays outstanding coloration with vivid orange, pink, and cream tones throughout the shell. The specimen features long, well-developed spines and a particularly vibrant orange umbo, creating exceptional visual appeal from every angle.

The upper valve exhibits numerous elongated coral-orange spines with excellent color retention, while the lower valve remains attached, making this a complete articulated specimen. The shell presents beautifully with strong contrast between the bright orange spination and the creamy white base.
