Personally collected by Doug Thompson while scuba diving off Panama City Beach, Florida, this colorful Spondylus tenuis exhibits striking orange, yellow, and deep reddish-brown coloration with excellent sculpturing and attractive spine development. The rich contrast between the vivid interior and heavily ornamented exterior makes this a particularly eye-catching specimen.
The upper valve displays pronounced radial ribs highlighted by bold reddish-brown coloration and accented with bright yellow spines. The interior presents a beautiful glossy peach-orange tone with a vibrant yellow margin. This specimen offers exceptional visual appeal and represents a fine example of this distinctive Western Atlantic thorny oyster.
