Strombus pugilis Linnaeus, 1758 – 73.1 mm (2.88”) Nice Color

This beautiful West Indian Fighting Conch was personally collected by me while commercial lobster fishing at Pulley Ridge, Dry Tortugas, Florida. Recovered from a baited lobster trap set in 220–240 feet, this is an exceptionally attractive deep-water specimen with rich golden-orange coloration, crisp patterning, and a vivid orange aperture.

Deep-water Strombus pugilis from Pulley Ridge are highly desirable due to their vibrant colors and outstanding condition. This specimen displays a glossy finish, strong pattern contrast, and excellent eye appeal, making it a fine addition to any Caribbean or Florida gastropod collection.

Condition

An exceptional collector specimen featuring vibrant golden-orange coloration, a rich orange aperture, glossy surfaces, and sharp detail throughout. There is a minor chip at the tip of the siphonal canal along with light growth marks on the body whorl, both visible in the photographs and reflected in the price. These minor imperfections do little to detract from the shell’s outstanding overall presentation and display quality.
