Strombus pugilis Linnaeus, 1758 – 79.2 mm (3.12”)

This beautiful West Indian Fighting Conch was personally collected by me while commercial lobster fishing at Pulley Ridge, Dry Tortugas, Florida. Recovered from a baited lobster trap set in 220–240 feet, this attractive specimen displays an intense golden-orange body, crisp spiral sculpture, and a rich deep orange aperture that make it a standout example of the species.

Pulley Ridge specimens are highly sought after for their exceptional color and quality. The bold golden pattern, glossy finish, and strong contrast between the body whorl and aperture give this shell outstanding display appeal.

A beautiful collector specimen with vibrant coloration, glossy surfaces, and excellent overall eye appeal. There is minor damage to the outer lip/aperture visible in the photographs, along with a small chip at the tip of the siphonal canal. These minor imperfections do not detract from the shell’s impressive display quality.
