A Beautiful Key West Horse Conch
Offered is a handsome Triplofusus giganteus (Kiener, 1840) measuring an impressive 412 mm (16.22 inches). This mature Florida Horse Conch exhibits a classic elongated profile with a well-developed spire, broad body whorl, long siphonal canal, and a gorgeous soft cream exterior accented by delicate peach-orange banding. The aperture displays an attractive rich apricot coloration, creating exceptional contrast.
Collected by divers off Key West, this specimen includes its original operculum and makes an outstanding display piece for both beginning and advanced collectors.
Condition
This specimen presents beautifully with excellent natural color and an attractive glossy aperture. The shell retains its original operculum and exhibits the robust proportions expected of mature Horse Conchs.
Like many large, naturally collected Horse Conchs, the shell displays minor growth marks and light natural wear associated with age and life in the wild. These characteristics are typical of large mature specimens and add to their authenticity.
Please carefully review all photographs, as they form an important part of the description and accurately represent the shell being offered.
