A Beautiful Large Florida Horse Conch

Presented here is a handsome Triplofusus giganteus (Kiener, 1840) measuring an impressive 419 mm (16.50 inches). This mature Horse Conch exhibits a pleasing, heavy-bodied form with a broad inflated body whorl, moderately high spire, and extended siphonal canal. The shell displays soft ivory to cream coloration with subtle golden highlights, complemented by a rich peach-orange aperture and its original operculum.

Its balanced proportions and attractive coloration make this an outstanding display specimen for both beginning and advanced collectors.

Condition

This specimen is in excellent overall collector condition and retains outstanding natural character. The shell features a glossy peach aperture and includes the original operculum.

There are several natural growth features and minor surface imperfections associated with a mature wild-collected Horse Conch, including light growth marks and scattered areas of superficial wear. A small encrusting organism remains attached to one side of the shell, adding to its natural history appeal.
