Triplofusus giganteus – Horse Conch – 17.24” (438 mm) – Operculum Included

A Massive Florida Horse Conch

Offered is an impressive Triplofusus giganteus (Kiener, 1840) measuring an outstanding 438 mm (17.24 inches). This large mature Horse Conch displays the classic elongated form of the species with a high spire, broad body whorl, extended siphonal canal, and a beautiful soft ivory exterior highlighted by subtle golden bands. The aperture exhibits an attractive peach to apricot coloration, and the original operculum accompanies the specimen.

At over 17 inches, this is an exceptional display shell and a striking example of Florida’s state shell.

Condition

This mature specimen presents beautifully with excellent overall form and natural coloration. The shell retains its original operculum and displays the character expected of a wild-collected giant Horse Conch.

As is typical for Horse Conchs of this size, the shell exhibits natural growth marks and minor surface wear acquired throughout its lifetime. These features are common in mature specimens and contribute to their authenticity and natural history.

Please carefully review all photographs, as they are an important part of the description and accurately depict the specimen being offered.
