I am pleased to offer this beautiful specimen of Macrocypraea cervus (Linnaeus, 1771), commonly known as the Deer Cowrie. Measuring 116.0 mm, this specimen displays excellent natural gloss, rich golden-brown coloration, a distinct dorsal band, and dense white spotting across the dorsum. The attractive pattern and strong coloration make this a very desirable collector specimen from the Dry Tortugas.
This specimen was personally collected during commercial lobster fishing operations aboard the F/V AVA PILAR in deep water west of the Dry Tortugas.
