Macrocypraea zebra – Zebra Cowrie – 83.9 mm

I am pleased to offer this attractive specimen of Macrocypraea zebra (Linnaeus, 1758), commonly known as the Zebra Cowrie. Measuring 83.9 mm, this specimen displays a rich golden-brown dorsum highlighted by numerous pale spots and subtle darker mottling, giving it excellent visual contrast and character.

Collected by a diver off Key West, Florida, this specimen exhibits the glossy enamel and distinctive patterning that make the Zebra Cowrie one of the most desirable Atlantic cowries.

Condition

A glossy specimen with strong color and attractive patterning. The shell retains excellent enamel and well-developed dentition.

There is a visible growth scar and healed damage on the dorsum, as shown in the photographs. This natural feature does not detract from the specimen’s overall display quality and adds character to the shell.
