This specimen of Polystira albida was personally collected by me during commercial lobster fishing operations in deep water off the Dry Tortugas.
Turrids from this region with precise depth, vessel, and collection data are far less commonly available than general trade material. Documented Gulf provenance adds both scientific interest and collector value.
This specimen shows:
• Classic elongated form
• Strong spiral sculpture
• Intact siphonal canal
• Clean natural coloration
• Authentic deep-water Tortugas provenance
Material from active working fisheries in this region is limited, making properly documented examples increasingly desirable to serious collectors.
Condition
Very good collector condition.
Typical minor handling or trap-collection marks may be present, consistent with authentic working-deck specimens. Nothing unusual for deep-water collected Turridae.
