Macrocypraea cervus — Deer Cowrie | Dry Tortugas, Florida | 151.0mm | TSC#0695CYP
An exceptional large Macrocypraea cervus collected from deep water off the Dry Tortugas, Florida. This impressive 151.0mm specimen displays a rich glossy chestnut-brown dorsum heavily covered with crisp white spotting and excellent overall symmetry. The shell features strong ventral dentition, elongated anterior and posterior extremities, and outstanding inflation typical of premium deep-water Deer Cowries.
A beautiful collector-grade specimen with excellent color saturation and presentation. One of the smaller extremities shows a minor chip, which is clearly shown in the photos and reflected in pricing. Aside from that, the shell presents extremely well with strong eye appeal and superb gloss.
Personally collected in baited lobster traps from 180–200 feet by collector Randy Rivera.
